Offerings

These offerings can be combined in various ways based on particular needs:

Sonic Convocation

This is the experiential performance of Autophysiopsychic Music. It can be offered as a 45-60-minute set or two 45-minute sets. A quality sound system and experienced sound engineer and crew is required and a detailed tech rider can be provided upon booking. 

Artist Workshops

Open Workshop - this is a 2-3 hour session in which the public can witness the collective compose music live. This type of session is usually paired with a sonic convocation and is typically done on the morning of a sonic convocation as a way to prepare and rehearse. The audience is able to see the group read, research, and discuss Dr. Yusef abdul-Lateef’s works as well as co-compose in real-time. 

Educational Workshop - this is a 2-hour engaging session in which the collective works with the audience (typically students) learning about Dr. Yusef abdul-Lateef, reading and understanding his Methodology on How to Perform Autophysiopsychic Music book, as well as live demonstrations.

Panel Discussion 

This is a 1-2 hour participatory session in which the 3-5 artists (namely the founders and disciples of Dr. abdul-Lateef) sit as panelists with the collective’s moderator to discuss Dr. Yusef abdul-Lateef (his life, works, and impact) and his music methodology. Panelists also discuss how and why the collective came together as well as the deep impact and influence Dr. Yusef abdul-Lateef had on the music and cultural landscape of America. The panel discussion can also be open to a different agreed-upon topic based on Dr. Yusef abdul-Lateef and Autophysiopsychic Music.

Participatory Convocation 

This is an open participatory session in which participants can bring their own instruments and join the collective in creating improvised music/Autophysiopsychic Music. It is suggested that this event is paired with a sonic convocation prior to participation. It can also be packaged with an Educational Artist Workshop and/or Panel Discussion+Sonic Convocation.
